Boy, it’s been a long time since I’ve written anything. A lot of things have changed over the past few months: I moved from Champaign, Illinois to Dearborn, Michigan, started work at Ford, squeezed myself into the local dancing and driving scenes, and bought myself a new car. It’s weird going from a small city to a big one, and I had one hell of an adjustment period.
I’ve more or less adapted to life here in Michigan. But I’ve hit that magical period of time where familiarity with the Detroit area makes me miss the way things were back in Champaign. I miss the MBAs I studied and partied with, I miss the car club that made me the driver I am today, and I miss the dancers that helped me go from rank beginner to intermediate. Since my writing more or less came to an abrupt halt at the end of spring, I suppose this will be a general recap of everything since then. [Continue reading →]

I stopped by Radio Maria on my birthday to say hi to some old friends. It was also the first time in months that I had danced salsa, so to say I was a bit out of practice is a massive understatement. Today was merely a day of travel and no sightseeing. We left Yichang in the middle of the day and arrived in Zhangjiajie in the evening. We decided to abandon our plans of staying at a hotel in the city and instead stayed at a hotel in the mountains. [Continue reading →]

We are here in Yichang to see pretty much just one thing: the Three Gorges Dam, the biggest dam in the world. Poor weather conspired to make it difficult to see just how grand the dam was, and a plethora of dam jokes between us brothers made the day just a bit more juvenile. [Continue reading →]
